2009 Spring Training
The 26-time World-Champion New York
Yankees will open their 2009 spring training schedule on Wednesday,
February 25, at 1:05 p.m. vs. the Toronto Blue Jays on the road in
Dunedin, FL. The Yankees will don their home pinstripes for their first
game of the season at the newly renamed Steinbrenner Field against the
American League champions Tampa Bay Rays the following day. The Yankees
wrap up the exhibition season with two games at the brand new Yankee
Stadium in NYC against the Chicago Cubs on April 3 and 4 before opening
day April 6.
The schedule also features 6 night games at Steinbrenner Field against
the Detroit Tigers March 6, Pittsburgh Pirates Mar. 17, Toronto Blue
Jays on the 19th, the Boston Red Sox on the 24th and two night matches
against the Cincinnati Reds on March 10 and 27 respectively. The Yankees
will also travel twice to Sarasota for matches with the Reds for their
final Grapefruit league year before the Reds head west to their new 2010
Cactus League home in Goodyear Arizona.
Season tickets for the Yankees' complete home exhibition schedule are on
sale now at the Legends Field Ticket Office while individual-game
tickets will go on sale in January. For ticket information, fans should
